about the photographer

My name is Russell Wofford and I hope you got a chance to see my work! I grew up just outside of Atlanta, Georgia, in a family of six. My Dad worked in advertising for over 20 years so he’s to blame for anything creative in me. He exposed me to a little bit of everything surrounding advertising. I became most interested in the photography and film side of marketing. He was executive creative director for ad agencies that dealt with multi-million dollar commercials and ad campaigns. My initial interest in visual art, whether it be photography, film, or design, came from seeing his work and being around creative people.

I've always been creative minded ever since I was really young. I was much more interested in drawing in my text books than reading them. I started taking pictures with my iPhone in 2013 and editing them using apps like Mextures and VSCO. I was obsessed with taking an ordinary photo and turning it into something beautiful while trying to make it look believable. This sparked my interest in Photoshop which I began using as I outgrew the capabilities of my iPhone 5. However, the vision still stayed the same. My goal was to take fairly simple photos and turn them into something extraordinary, almost better-than-life. I've always been fascinated by colors and color grading. I care a lot about the smallest details. I began this journey using VSCO and different photo apps in my iPhone but eventually transitioned into Lightroom. After making this transition, it was only a matter of time before I began developing my own look and consequently developing my own presets. This is where it got fun! I can easily spend a few hours color grading one frame and not get tired of it. I've always had a fascination with colors and love the challenge of finding what each photo needs. You can see this if you look through my work.
